Big Springs, Snake Valley, Nevada

From left to right: Tim Durbin, former head of the USGS Nevada Office and groundwater modeler for the Southern Nevada Water Authority, Snake Valley rancher Dean Baker, and Susan Lynn of the Great Basin Water Network.

Baker contends that the Southern Nevada Water Authority plans for a pipeline extending from Las Vegas to Snake Valley could dry up this spring.

Durbin says that it would also mean the end of the wetland/marsh community supporting local wildlife.
